He did not plan to end up in Umbria. Stijn left a corporate career and began travelling slowly, with no fixed destination and no timeline. Then he arrived in Paciano, fell for the land and the centuries-old craft of making oil, and stayed. More than 1,200 trees, some between one and two hundred years old, are now in his care.

Jury did not set out to be a producer. He set out to understand the tree. A certified olive pruner trained by the Scuola Potatura Olivo, he teaches other growers and tends his own groves in the hills above Lake Trasimeno by what he calls agroecology. This year, he joins SOLO for the first time.
