May Update: It starts with a bud

There’s a quiet transformation happening in Umbria right now—one that begins with the tiniest detail: olive flower buds. These are the first signs of what will eventually become our very first SOLO OLIVES harvest.

What You’re Looking At

Those clusters in the photo are called inflorescences—small groups of buds that sprout from where the leaf meets the branch. Each inflorescence can hold up to 20 buds, but only a few of those will open into actual flowers. And of those, only a small number will be successfully pollinated and grow into olives.

Olive trees are wind-pollinated, which means the weather during this short flowering phase is everything. Rain can wash away pollen. Wind helps—but too much can scatter it before it finds its match. And cold snaps can stop flowering in its tracks.

This is one of the most delicate, make-or-break moments of the year. The quality and quantity of our first SOLO OLIVES harvest begins right here, in these buds.

First Harvest: 29 Bottles Left

This is our debut harvest, and we’re keeping it intentionally small—just 100 bottles. Early-harvest, single grove, cold-pressed, and shipped directly from Umbria.

As of today, only 29 bottles remain.

If you’ve been thinking about ordering, or know someone who appreciates extraordinary olive oil, now’s the time. Once we’re sold out, we wait until next year.

Heading to Umbria in October

We’ll be flying to Umbria ourselves for the harvest this fall. We’ll be on-site to press the olives within hours of picking—capturing the vibrancy and freshness of this once-a-year oil.

Right now, we’re also in the process of finalizing the bottle and label. We’re choosing something that reflects the oil’s purity—simple, beautiful, and built to preserve its character. We’ll share a preview with you soon.

Thank You

Launching SOLO OLIVES is deeply personal for us. It’s about honoring tradition, slowing down, and reconnecting with something real. Thank you for being part of this first chapter. We can’t wait to share the harvest with you.

Warmly,
Ricardo & Stijn
